The newest thing here is Mantic's "Kings of War", a 28mm Tabletop Fantasy Wargame. There's also Zombies and Survivors, 15mm Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Pirates and Old West, and some 28mm as well. We also have Dungeons and Dragons 3d dungeons and furniture.Luckyjoehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09572819691139763475noreply@blogger.comBlogger162125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1797331547651284116.post-70109984420886655782014-02-23T06:16:00.000-08:002014-02-23T06:16:26.388-08:00Fortified ChapelH<span style="font-family: inherit;">i, fo</span>lks. Here's another bit of terrain for our Kings of War table. It's a fortified chapel made from a <span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 1.3;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Pegasus Hobby Gothic City Building Large Set. I added crenelations with some 1/2 inch foam core. This was another mostly done project from a while back which I finally finished. I did final touch-up painting and added some print-outs of stained glass windows from the Hirst Arts site which I resized in GIMP. </span></span><br />

<b><span style="font-size: large;">Pink foam castle</span></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Amktw_-thIE/UwUsN2IycZI/AAAAAAAAByo/lGpN61ZTy2Q/s1600/Castle+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Amktw_-thIE/UwUsN2IycZI/AAAAAAAAByo/lGpN61ZTy2Q/s1600/Castle+1.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a little castle I made with 1/2 inch insulation foam. I watched some really good tutorial videos on the <a href="http://wargamingforfun.com/">Wargaming For Fun</a> site. They used two inch thick foam for their castle but all I had was the 1/2 inch. I scribed the foam with a pencil to represent the stones. The walkways are 3 inches wide to accommodate the unit's movement trays. The walls are 7.5 inches tall to the tops of the merlons. The towers are simple boxes with the crenelations added. I had to add the buttresses to the walls because they tended to fall over in the breeze from the ceiling fan. It was painted with black craft paint, an entire 8 oz bottle, and then drybrushed with gray craft paint. It took forever to scribe the lines and was a kind of tedious project, but it cost next to nothing. I already had several pieces of foam insulation, all I needed was a $3 bottle of paint. It comes apart into 4 sixteen inch wall sections and 4 towers and weighs about nothing. I still need to make a gate and maybe a portcullis. I may also add a few more courses to the tower bases so I can add doors from the towers onto the walkways. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That tall tower in the center courtyard is a modified Hirst Arts Prison tower my son Mark made. It's pretty cool. We may be able to use it in some kind of rescue scenario. And of course, Kings of War has some siege rules.</div>

We're using a mix of old Warhammer minis primarily, Mantic does not yet make a Kingdoms of Men line of minis, so I'm using some old Warhammer Empire minis. I had some already painted, but most were not.<br />
<br />
First I started out making some movement trays. There is an excellent <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJtD4-nhTv4&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PLfvaOMHGk2o_U_Xjy-2pqZVy4Y21slmV_">tutorial</a> on YouTube on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzonqVux9I-V6Ivl7y4XWfw">The Kings of War Channel</a>. If you haven't visited this channel, you should check it out. It's excellent. Entertaining and informative. Anyway, I had made homemade movement trays in the past, but never ones where the minis are glued onto the movement tray. I really liked his method, especially the way he used the blended flocks and matching the flock to his battleboard. I spent a day making a bunch of movement trays for our units.<br />
<br />
At the same time I was pulling out all of the old minis we had, and grouping them into units for the different armies. Then I found a really cool, free online site for building Kings of War army lists. It's called EasyArmy.com and <a href="http://kow.easyarmy.com/">here</a> is a link to their Kings of War page.This is an excellent resource that lets you make lists using the latest rules and items. I was using it to design the army lists based on the minis I had available and looking at the army lists let me figure out how many and what size movement trays I needed. Kind of a circle of life thing. :)<br />
<br />
Here are some of the Kingdoms of Men units.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6GwLIrYOY78/UwUXXgYtdZI/AAAAAAAABw0/4EdePjZZnl4/s1600/General+on+Winged+Beast.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6GwLIrYOY78/UwUXXgYtdZI/AAAAAAAABw0/4EdePjZZnl4/s1600/General+on+Winged+Beast.jpg" height="320" width="256" /></a></div>
First one is the General on a Winged Beast. It's a GW Empire Knight conversion mounted on GW's Louen Leoncoeur's Griffin. I finally finished painting the Griffin for use with Kings of War.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q0qsA1UXp3E/UwUbVc-4GgI/AAAAAAAABxA/gEt3TdlDic0/s1600/Mounted+General.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q0qsA1UXp3E/UwUbVc-4GgI/AAAAAAAABxA/gEt3TdlDic0/s1600/Mounted+General.jpg" height="320" width="262" /></a></div>
Another old GW mini. This one was painted about 10 years ago I think. He will be a General mounted on a horse for KoW. It's nice to have models matching the different equipment options available.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1Aa_DEqS93g/UwUb4N4yFPI/AAAAAAAABxU/mzQ80hYSRPA/s1600/Wizard+on+foot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1Aa_DEqS93g/UwUb4N4yFPI/AAAAAAAABxU/mzQ80hYSRPA/s1600/Wizard+on+foot.jpg" height="320" width="271" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another old GW mini, a wizard on foot for KoW.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Uiy6-oxgEO8/UwUb3RUMmoI/AAAAAAAABxI/Zlxpu1Jf-u4/s1600/Mounted+Wizard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Uiy6-oxgEO8/UwUb3RUMmoI/AAAAAAAABxI/Zlxpu1Jf-u4/s1600/Mounted+Wizard.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Wizard mounted on a horse. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gkbNEzB7PxM/UwUb4viTV9I/AAAAAAAABxk/2Ziq0R1Nhx8/s1600/Wizard+on+pegasus.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gkbNEzB7PxM/UwUb4viTV9I/AAAAAAAABxk/2Ziq0R1Nhx8/s1600/Wizard+on+pegasus.jpg" height="320" width="312" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wizard mounted on a Pegasus. This one is a Heroscape mini. I just added flock to the base. That covers the options for Wizards,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ip9zcMYCYGI/UwUg11RJjoI/AAAAAAAAByA/bV2u5MzMQJg/s1600/cannon.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ip9zcMYCYGI/UwUg11RJjoI/AAAAAAAAByA/bV2u5MzMQJg/s1600/cannon.jpg" height="270" width="320" /></a></div>
Cannon. More old GW minis, painted long ago. I based them on a piece of vinyl floor tile.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D7LexG7VNHc/UwUg19XxkPI/AAAAAAAAByE/uPNVy7iOyAM/s1600/Hellblaster.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D7LexG7VNHc/UwUg19XxkPI/AAAAAAAAByE/uPNVy7iOyAM/s1600/Hellblaster.jpg" height="303" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ditto, with an old Hellblaster. Sat around unpainted for about 10 years. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IS4bho2utEU/UwUg16GbeLI/AAAAAAAABx8/hjEGjqH8gis/s1600/mortar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IS4bho2utEU/UwUg16GbeLI/AAAAAAAABx8/hjEGjqH8gis/s1600/mortar.jpg" height="226" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And a mortar, too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5cXE_ovuATk/UwUb3pvVqaI/AAAAAAAABxY/qx3QnlHdjtg/s1600/Poleaxes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5cXE_ovuATk/UwUb3pvVqaI/AAAAAAAABxY/qx3QnlHdjtg/s1600/Poleaxes.jpg" height="200" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pole Axe Regiment. Another old GW unit. This one I just finished painting. I made their movement tray using the method from "The Kings of War Channel". It was very helpful, gluing that Standard Bearer down to the tray keeps him from falling over all of the time. The emblem on the standard itself is one I googled, brought into GIMP and reversed colors from a black Maltese Cross to white. Then I printed a page of the emblems, cut them out and glued them to the standards. When dry, I sealed the standards with gloss decoupage.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AHpR2bXnv3g/UwUb4LImpqI/AAAAAAAABxo/ZBH0-Jzf83Q/s1600/Spearmen.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AHpR2bXnv3g/UwUb4LImpqI/AAAAAAAABxo/ZBH0-Jzf83Q/s1600/Spearmen.jpg" height="210" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a Spearman regiment. Movement tray done the same way. Same deal on the banner. These guys were a departure from the usual way I paint minis. I bought a can of blue spray paint and used that on them. The paint was darker than I thought it would be but I'm okay with it. I then picked out the breast-plates, skin, shields and spears. I may start playing these guys as a Pike Phalanx.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KHENAgLl6iA/UwUrL0sDFaI/AAAAAAAAByc/53bBgsxoX-8/s1600/Footguard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KHENAgLl6iA/UwUrL0sDFaI/AAAAAAAAByc/53bBgsxoX-8/s1600/Footguard.jpg" height="109" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A hoard of Footguard. Half of these were painted a long time ago. Same deal on the movement trays and banner. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">Well, that's it for now. Thanks for looking. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://manticblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Kings-of-War-Rulebook.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://manticblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Kings-of-War-Rulebook.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Hi, folks. First post in a long time. Real life has been kind of sucky and I haven't been up for blogging. Now all of a sudden Mantic Games' "Kings of War" has got my mojo back. :)<br />
<br />
I think Mantic is the successor to the Games Workshop mantle. At least for me. I had a lot of GW minis sitting around gathering dust for the last 12 years or so. Kings of War has given them a new "life".<br />
<br />
If you're not familiar with <a href="http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/kings-of-war.html">Mantic's "Kings of War"</a>, it is a Fantasy Mass Combat Tabletop Wargame. Mantic has an excellent, free <a href="http://www.manticgames.com/SiteData/Root/File/KINGS%20OF%20WAR/KoW-MRB-Rules-Web.pdf">ruleset</a> you can download from their site, written by Alessio Cavatore. If you google them, you can find lots of positive reviews.<br />
<br />
Anyway, after watching some excellent YouTube videos from the "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzonqVux9I-V6Ivl7y4XWfw?feature=g-subs-u">Kings of War Channel</a>" and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XF5xLsGYijs">Wargames Supplies</a>, I started reviving those old Warhammer Armies for use in "Kings of War". So far, my sons Stephen and Mark and I have played several games of "Kings of War", using an old GW Empire army for the "Kings of War" Kingdoms of Men faction, an old Vampire Counts army for KoW Undead, Dwarves, Warriors of Chaos, High Elves, and Dark Elves (Mantic Twilight Kin) .<br />
<br />
To me, KoW plays so much better and the fact that we can use old GW armies in KoW makes it that much more attractive. I'll be posting some articles on Kings of War soon.<br />
<br />
Thanks for looking.Luckyjoehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09572819691139763475noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1797331547651284116.post-59446535338342451802013-05-27T08:43:00.000-07:002013-05-27T08:43:51.450-07:00The "insert your name here" InnHi, folks. This is a little Inn my son Mark built a while back using a "Buildings of Malifaux" set made by WorldWorks Games for Wyrd Miniatures. This was made from 1 Building set and 1 set of clips. Others have reviewed these sets in the past so I won't spend a lot of time talking about it. I don't like it much. It's wonky when you try to build upwards and the plastic clips get in the way of furniture placement. Graphics are nice, though. This is mainly about some of the furnishings, most of which are Hirst Arts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-s1WIShyBur8/UaN3ui6Th1I/AAAAAAAABu4/UHtQGow8y1Q/s1600/Inn+outside+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="323" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-s1WIShyBur8/UaN3ui6Th1I/AAAAAAAABu4/UHtQGow8y1Q/s400/Inn+outside+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Three story Inn. As you can see, it doesn't stack too well, but the graphics are good.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pSDtxodfiB0/UaN4NOfInvI/AAAAAAAABvE/tKfz58NqbVI/s1600/Inn+outside+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pSDtxodfiB0/UaN4NOfInvI/AAAAAAAABvE/tKfz58NqbVI/s320/Inn+outside+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
A different angle. 28mm D&D minis for scale.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1PRcumXvp4k/UaN4M6KpJYI/AAAAAAAABvA/o2e6EMA6lDc/s1600/Inn+outside+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1PRcumXvp4k/UaN4M6KpJYI/AAAAAAAABvA/o2e6EMA6lDc/s320/Inn+outside+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Another angle. I like the balcony these sets allow.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-U71axNS7WO0/UaN4rWXMCNI/AAAAAAAABvQ/0X6dMFM5uBY/s1600/Inn+top+floor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="397" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-U71axNS7WO0/UaN4rWXMCNI/AAAAAAAABvQ/0X6dMFM5uBY/s400/Inn+top+floor.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
A shot of the top floor with the roof removed. The rug has been featured in previous posts. The bookcase is an old scratchbuild. Globe from Dollhouse set, the bed is another old scratchbuild. I imagine this as a suite of rooms, perhaps for nobles or mages.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7YHgUpLlNBQ/UaN5gz-IbCI/AAAAAAAABvY/1iB4E2E2QXc/s1600/Inn+2nd+floor+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="217" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7YHgUpLlNBQ/UaN5gz-IbCI/AAAAAAAABvY/1iB4E2E2QXc/s400/Inn+2nd+floor+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
A shot of the second floor. Most of the furnishings are Hirst Arts, though the bed on the right is a scratchbuild with a quilt printed from an online site.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vhIkWUCPOVo/UaN5g7rhGJI/AAAAAAAABvc/vex3t101MW0/s1600/Inn+2nd+floor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vhIkWUCPOVo/UaN5g7rhGJI/AAAAAAAABvc/vex3t101MW0/s320/Inn+2nd+floor.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Another angle shot of the second floor. Mainly HA furniture.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NWtfJAGmw1c/UaN7DEjaU3I/AAAAAAAABvw/HOUvcBrwoP0/s1600/inn+bar+and+patio.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NWtfJAGmw1c/UaN7DEjaU3I/AAAAAAAABvw/HOUvcBrwoP0/s400/inn+bar+and+patio.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Here's a shot of the ground floor bar and patio. Most of the furniture is HA. The narrow table in the upper right is another old scratchbuild.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Mlrh4Zj_AVk/UaN7nwy1GnI/AAAAAAAABv4/V_JZ4PendA0/s1600/inn+ground+floor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="323" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Mlrh4Zj_AVk/UaN7nwy1GnI/AAAAAAAABv4/V_JZ4PendA0/s400/inn+ground+floor.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Another shot of the ground floor. Furniture HA. I used the rug to help hide the clips on the floor.<br />
<br />
I'm thinking about making an Inn from foamcore and adding HA pieces for floors and wood planks for the half-timbered look. Might make it a modular collection of rooms like Bruce's latest tutorial on making his Inn, in order to cut down storage space.<br />

Here are a few more dungeon items. All of these are scratch-built. I forgot to take some in progress pics, though, so I added some after the fact.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Summoning Circle</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z8P4XqeI38E/UZJ4OrlG0RI/AAAAAAAABrY/T89andC6mHQ/s1600/summoning+circle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z8P4XqeI38E/UZJ4OrlG0RI/AAAAAAAABrY/T89andC6mHQ/s320/summoning+circle.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The base of the Summoning Circle was made from Hirst Arts Fieldstone parts.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eo5ejdsN88A/UZKcwPnLzFI/AAAAAAAABtI/KrXCg69bHS4/s1600/ha+bricks+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="119" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eo5ejdsN88A/UZKcwPnLzFI/AAAAAAAABtI/KrXCg69bHS4/s320/ha+bricks+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
These are the 2 types of bricks used. The 3 stone piece on the left makes a circle 2 1/2 inches wide. These were used to make the base of the Summoning Circle, pictured below. The longer, 5-stone piece makes a 2" circle.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SLgd587C0U0/UZKcz_KAZdI/AAAAAAAABtQ/Pf0e_ZaXKPk/s1600/HA+Bricks+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="277" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SLgd587C0U0/UZKcz_KAZdI/AAAAAAAABtQ/Pf0e_ZaXKPk/s320/HA+Bricks+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Big circle above, smaller circle below.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CN5uix5cHuM/UZKc0F6PvZI/AAAAAAAABtU/gSXH1EYwUdg/s1600/HA+Bricks+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="287" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CN5uix5cHuM/UZKc0F6PvZI/AAAAAAAABtU/gSXH1EYwUdg/s320/HA+Bricks+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Smaller circle above. Naturally I ran out out bricks for the re-enactment. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m0WJRxOEQvA/UZKeXGhusYI/AAAAAAAABtk/W6ZeloV0Wrs/s1600/pentagram+fail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="284" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-m0WJRxOEQvA/UZKeXGhusYI/AAAAAAAABtk/W6ZeloV0Wrs/s320/pentagram+fail.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Pic above: First I tried freehanding cutting out a pentagram. I suck.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T5YM6fNqOr4/UZKeX_jhFGI/AAAAAAAABts/YUqFxyfcjpE/s1600/pentagram.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T5YM6fNqOr4/UZKeX_jhFGI/AAAAAAAABts/YUqFxyfcjpE/s320/pentagram.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I printed out a pentagram, much better.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;">The Pentagram on top was made by printing out a pentagram found with Google. I glued the Pentagram onto thin plastic card, then cut out the Pentagram shape with a hobby knife.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
The pentagram was then glued to a circle of plastic card. I then painted the pentagram and glued it to the Hirst Arts pedestal base. I added the red gems by gluing round pieces of plastic card punched out with a 2mm hole puncher. The gems were them painted red with Tamiya Clear Red (TCR).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pEJHKGj89fY/UZKe1ZwbPMI/AAAAAAAABt0/UkugU1s9HXQ/s1600/Summoning+Circle+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pEJHKGj89fY/UZKe1ZwbPMI/AAAAAAAABt0/UkugU1s9HXQ/s320/Summoning+Circle+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Summoning Circle in its natural habitat.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Altar</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This Altar was made from some bits from a custom mold and some Hirst Arts bits. The top was cut from a piece of vinyl floor tile.</div>
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7zqJhUYq5q0/UZJ4Wvb9f8I/AAAAAAAABrg/qGg7PfGQdN0/s1600/Altar+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="221" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7zqJhUYq5q0/UZJ4Wvb9f8I/AAAAAAAABrg/qGg7PfGQdN0/s320/Altar+1.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
Front view: The red gems, tongue and eyes were done with TCR.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FnUWWA0NF5M/UZJ4W1VLX9I/AAAAAAAABrk/jFOmWeoL-eY/s1600/Altar+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FnUWWA0NF5M/UZJ4W1VLX9I/AAAAAAAABrk/jFOmWeoL-eY/s320/Altar+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Side view: The Altar was mounted onto a piece of craft foam.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pu5C4Lp_2fk/UZJ4XMTHODI/AAAAAAAABrw/RIzbM8K2wB4/s1600/Altar+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="196" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pu5C4Lp_2fk/UZJ4XMTHODI/AAAAAAAABrw/RIzbM8K2wB4/s320/Altar+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Back view: I left room behind the altar for a mini to stand.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xLZOEWfJbtk/UZJ4X9D8VPI/AAAAAAAABr4/zMC95MGTFxo/s1600/Altar+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xLZOEWfJbtk/UZJ4X9D8VPI/AAAAAAAABr4/zMC95MGTFxo/s320/Altar+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Other side: The paint job was a series of grays drybrushed up.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Yk5F_bDXHds/UZJ4Ytkkd4I/AAAAAAAABsA/iOemUmYSRUw/s1600/Altar+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Yk5F_bDXHds/UZJ4Ytkkd4I/AAAAAAAABsA/iOemUmYSRUw/s320/Altar+5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Here's the Altar with a couple of the new torches, and a mini from the D&D boardgame Wrath of Ashardalon. The boardgame itself is pretty fun and it comes with 42 unpainted D&D minis. Those minis make a nice project by themselves. So far I've almost 15 of them finished.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zYeXDZEgFUs/UZJ4aRl9PpI/AAAAAAAABsI/OEPIzcxiCJo/s1600/Altar+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zYeXDZEgFUs/UZJ4aRl9PpI/AAAAAAAABsI/OEPIzcxiCJo/s320/Altar+6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This view shows a casualty mini I made a while ago from an old Heroclix mini. Either about to be sacrificed or already was. There's an excellent tutorial for making these casualties on the Combat Zone Chronicles website, <span style="color: red;"><a href="http://combatzonechronicles.net/cozox/dead.htm">here</a></span>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2UV4gXLrMyY/UZJ4bQfpDoI/AAAAAAAABsQ/_n2SuU5SbYw/s1600/Altar+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2UV4gXLrMyY/UZJ4bQfpDoI/AAAAAAAABsQ/_n2SuU5SbYw/s320/Altar+7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Here's the altar in place in one of the rooms. There's a few other of our recent projects pictured also. The torches, portrait and clock.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are a few tapestries. These were made following the directions on the Abaroth's World website, under the heading: Additions and Adornments, under the Tips and Tricks section, <a href="http://www.abarothsworld.com/Tricks/additions.htm">here</a>. Abaroth's World is a great site full of useful resources. You should give it a read.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ingredients:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-edJ29bGuUYk/UZKg9AcXbZI/AAAAAAAABuA/Gr5g-7_ki9A/s1600/Ingredients.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="220" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-edJ29bGuUYk/UZKg9AcXbZI/AAAAAAAABuA/Gr5g-7_ki9A/s320/Ingredients.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Toothpicks, different types of beads for the endcaps, and some textured art paper. I'm not sure if this is the same stuff Abaroth used. I bought mine at Hobby Lobby for 49 cents per 8.5 x 11.5 inch sheet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QJiHl2tRGWU/UZKRLUSYrQI/AAAAAAAABss/zxI0KtgJte8/s1600/Tapestry+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QJiHl2tRGWU/UZKRLUSYrQI/AAAAAAAABss/zxI0KtgJte8/s320/Tapestry+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Dance of Death tapestry. Sufficiently creepy?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nuQa3QNH7fo/UZKRLXELtgI/AAAAAAAABso/WCEoEj1iOtg/s1600/Tapestry+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="154" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nuQa3QNH7fo/UZKRLXELtgI/AAAAAAAABso/WCEoEj1iOtg/s320/Tapestry+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I searched with google for "free fantasy art" images and printed out 10 different images, sized to 1.75 inches high by whatever width maintained height and width ratio. I used Gimp2 for the photo editing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rppKpwCFWko/UZKRLzMePwI/AAAAAAAABs0/nLBygWovfo4/s1600/Tapestry+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rppKpwCFWko/UZKRLzMePwI/AAAAAAAABs0/nLBygWovfo4/s320/Tapestry+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The first 2 tapestries were made using strips of the textured paper as hangers from the toothpick rods. The last tapestry (above) has the tapestry glued directly to the rod. I think I like the style with the cloth hanger pieces better.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Idols<span style="text-align: left;"> </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p5fdMiljZwg/UZblr0CTeFI/AAAAAAAABuo/iwXmp3m_fs4/s1600/Idols.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p5fdMiljZwg/UZblr0CTeFI/AAAAAAAABuo/iwXmp3m_fs4/s320/Idols.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Here are a couple of Idols from another custom mold. I think these originally were part of some toy. A Hirst Arts friend sent me one a while back.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y5UZx01yU4w/UZblnN8t55I/AAAAAAAABuQ/PF6AXdcXwcw/s1600/Idols+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="141" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y5UZx01yU4w/UZblnN8t55I/AAAAAAAABuQ/PF6AXdcXwcw/s320/Idols+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Idols in place in one of the rooms. These were painted with FolkArt Antique Metallic Copper, given a black "magic wash", and then the eyes were hit with Tamiya Clear Green.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l1e0yOvxnfY/UZblqMxxGvI/AAAAAAAABug/STLM_Y9P-2E/s1600/Idols+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="139" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l1e0yOvxnfY/UZblqMxxGvI/AAAAAAAABug/STLM_Y9P-2E/s320/Idols+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's the idols with a 28mm mini for scale.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tPBYaSXKW6w/UZblpSEcZqI/AAAAAAAABuY/aFWb_syEmvg/s1600/Idols+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="144" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tPBYaSXKW6w/UZblpSEcZqI/AAAAAAAABuY/aFWb_syEmvg/s320/Idols+5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Added in the Altar.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Thanks for looking.</div>

We have a few more things for the dungeon. No real tutorials made or necessary for these. First up: Rugs.<br />
<br />
I ordered a couple of rugs I saw pictured in a post on the Dwarven Forge forums. The supplier is a gentleman from Istanbul, Turkey. I ordered a couple of the extra-small rugs for $2.50 each. Free shipping. I received the rugs about 2 weeks after payment, which is what they specify on their website, <a href="http://www.miniaturewovencarpet.com/smallcarpet.html">here</a>. They are perfect and I'm sure I will be ordering more and larger rugs soon.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-15BvrDDVemw/UZDzfbQUyiI/AAAAAAAABp8/9OvokuQiWCY/s1600/Rug1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-15BvrDDVemw/UZDzfbQUyiI/AAAAAAAABp8/9OvokuQiWCY/s320/Rug1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first one. I was thinking about printing out pictures of rugs, but I'm glad I went with the real thing. I was amazed at the quality of the weave. Even my wife liked them. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6RXbkBgnuZ8/UZD0AS4AuPI/AAAAAAAABqE/vUD8s7kY4s0/s1600/rug2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6RXbkBgnuZ8/UZD0AS4AuPI/AAAAAAAABqE/vUD8s7kY4s0/s320/rug2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The second one. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I think these rugs are very cool and really help make a dungeon a home. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
How about another rug. This is a bear skin rug I sculpted from Sculpey Polymer clay. Sorry, no tutorial on this one either. I just took a piece of clay, flattened it, shaped it and cut away everything that didn't look like a bear. Then I painted it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-menHlH8nN9g/UZD1BgzE_EI/AAAAAAAABqQ/fYrMbBltaW8/s1600/bearskin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-menHlH8nN9g/UZD1BgzE_EI/AAAAAAAABqQ/fYrMbBltaW8/s320/bearskin.jpg" width="261" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Hmm, I never said it was good. :) But it is vaguely bear shaped. This one looks a lot better the further you get from it. You can also buy miniature bearskin rugs pre-made from a number of manufacturers.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Okay, here's the next couple. A portrait and a wall clock.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Portrait</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ObDPoC4X-Zs/UZD13idvblI/AAAAAAAABqc/vUy1MmhakBk/s1600/mirror+or+picture+frame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ObDPoC4X-Zs/UZD13idvblI/AAAAAAAABqc/vUy1MmhakBk/s320/mirror+or+picture+frame.jpg" width="269" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I picked up a pony tail holder from Hobby Lobby. I cut off the piece on the back securing the elastic ring to the metal bezel. Found a picture I liked with Google, printed it out and glued it to the bezel. Stuck it on the wall with poster-tac.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zL-IiHwbCM8/UZD2qTGSopI/AAAAAAAABqs/aXfa48y3VEA/s1600/Portrait+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="297" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zL-IiHwbCM8/UZD2qTGSopI/AAAAAAAABqs/aXfa48y3VEA/s320/Portrait+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
There it is. A nice little framed portrait. You can swap out different pictures if you like. You could also buy some reflective material to insert in the frame for a mirror, instead.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Clock</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-21YHc7tQyZA/UZD3UtNPRrI/AAAAAAAABq4/rGvo-IhVxws/s1600/Clock.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-21YHc7tQyZA/UZD3UtNPRrI/AAAAAAAABq4/rGvo-IhVxws/s320/Clock.jpg" width="244" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another find from the bead aisle. I kinda liked the lizard frame.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_uvKQdPv5U4/UZD3nEDwBoI/AAAAAAAABrA/-hLo70NdtrY/s1600/Clock+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_uvKQdPv5U4/UZD3nEDwBoI/AAAAAAAABrA/-hLo70NdtrY/s320/Clock+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I trimmed off the little ring from the frame and stuck it on the wall with post-tac.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Clock and Portrait</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZNtEjZUN3uE/UZD4KD6-UoI/AAAAAAAABrI/CC7gdOJY4K4/s1600/Clock+and+Portrait.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="139" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZNtEjZUN3uE/UZD4KD6-UoI/AAAAAAAABrI/CC7gdOJY4K4/s320/Clock+and+Portrait.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So if you have some blank wall space or floor space you want to fill, here's a few options. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Thanks for looking and I hope you found this helpful.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

I'm starting a series of posts about making things for our Dungeons. We have a couple of nice Hirst Arts layouts, and we have some Dwarven Forge Game Tiles coming from their recent wildly successful KickStarter.<br />
<br />
I'll also include some things we've bought instead of scratch-built, with a source in case you decide to buy them, too. A lot of it is stuff made using <a href="http://hirstarts.com/">Hirst Arts</a> molds, some are totally scratch-built or made from custom molds or a combination of sources.<br />
<br />
Here's the first little article on torches.<br />
<br />
I have a few <a href="http://www.dwarvenforge.com/">Dwarven Forge</a> Torches. They are part of one of the Accessory Packs. Very nice. Pre-painted, they are ready to go right out of the package.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-McVHGdBbEdM/UZA-lfEy1NI/AAAAAAAABnA/xoPrl-td2EI/s1600/DF+Torch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-McVHGdBbEdM/UZA-lfEy1NI/AAAAAAAABnA/xoPrl-td2EI/s200/DF+Torch.jpg" width="106" /></a></div>
I also have Hirst Arts torches I made using one of his many excellent <a href="http://hirstarts.com/tips24/tips24.html#torches">tutorials</a>. I just made one small modification, as you can see. I added a bead to act as a frame for the torch.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Zv6GTMq9B_0/UZA-mfVWpRI/AAAAAAAABnI/whFiGe9jDc8/s1600/HA+Torch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Zv6GTMq9B_0/UZA-mfVWpRI/AAAAAAAABnI/whFiGe9jDc8/s200/HA+Torch.jpg" width="126" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This latest project was to make some nice looking torches cheaply, similar to the Hirst Arts project, but not using any HA components.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's what you'll need.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XyLlSTyI2E4/UZBClo-DGQI/AAAAAAAABng/CgEvZq1KxsY/s1600/Torch+base+beads.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XyLlSTyI2E4/UZBClo-DGQI/AAAAAAAABng/CgEvZq1KxsY/s320/Torch+base+beads.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Some likely looking beads. I initially was going to use these beads for a variant for the torch top but decided they'd be better for part of the base of the torch stand. The beads came from Hobby Lobby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--Qi2Xz7Eu1s/UZBDMnpYphI/AAAAAAAABn0/oWdDBWgY0YA/s1600/beads+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--Qi2Xz7Eu1s/UZBDMnpYphI/AAAAAAAABn0/oWdDBWgY0YA/s320/beads+2.jpg" width="232" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These nice filigree beads will be used for a basket for the torch top to hold the flames. Hobby Lobby</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w0RHOTiglfY/UZBD-QdpbKI/AAAAAAAABoA/Qrz8vk4gKQA/s1600/toothpick.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="197" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w0RHOTiglfY/UZBD-QdpbKI/AAAAAAAABoA/Qrz8vk4gKQA/s320/toothpick.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Toothpicks or cocktail sticks</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Zg06Is0nzIM/UZBEQ0ptflI/AAAAAAAABoI/hFvB5xR4VQM/s1600/Torch+magnet+base.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="274" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Zg06Is0nzIM/UZBEQ0ptflI/AAAAAAAABoI/hFvB5xR4VQM/s320/Torch+magnet+base.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These are little 1/2" circular magnets. These will be the bottom part of the base and will help make the torches more stable and less likely to fall over if someone bumps the table. Hobby Lobby</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-slmFCTpnkcA/UZBFEeg1LnI/AAAAAAAABoY/JYYxQEY90ks/s1600/q-tip.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-slmFCTpnkcA/UZBFEeg1LnI/AAAAAAAABoY/JYYxQEY90ks/s320/q-tip.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Q-tips. The cotton heads are used to make the flames for the torches.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kQlax8sscNQ/UZBFlJo9e4I/AAAAAAAABog/XipIgzZF8Pc/s1600/Torch+base+with+stand.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kQlax8sscNQ/UZBFlJo9e4I/AAAAAAAABog/XipIgzZF8Pc/s320/Torch+base+with+stand.jpg" width="227" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's one of the toothpicks cut down and trimmed, inserted into a base bead, and superglued in place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-djG2Vw4XL3c/UZBF9eGZDYI/AAAAAAAABoo/HChitvzSuOA/s1600/torch+w+base+and+top.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-djG2Vw4XL3c/UZBF9eGZDYI/AAAAAAAABoo/HChitvzSuOA/s320/torch+w+base+and+top.jpg" width="163" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The basket for the flame has been added and superglued in place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Kf-oGGkiQMQ/UZBGfZRwJDI/AAAAAAAABow/4y9QpotJuIs/s1600/Torch+holders+basecoated+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="107" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Kf-oGGkiQMQ/UZBGfZRwJDI/AAAAAAAABow/4y9QpotJuIs/s320/Torch+holders+basecoated+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A bunch of the torches have had a magnet attached to the bottom and all have been spray painted black.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-48se6TWrTlA/UZBG67ezeUI/AAAAAAAABo4/jbb0l7BnZr4/s1600/torch+flames.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-48se6TWrTlA/UZBG67ezeUI/AAAAAAAABo4/jbb0l7BnZr4/s320/torch+flames.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While the black spray paint was drying, the flames were made using the Q-tips. I made mine slightly differently from the HA tutorial. I teased most of the cotton from the Q-tip, then shaped it into a point. Then I dipped them into a 50-50 mixture of PVA glue and water, allowing them to dry and harden. When dry I dipped them into yellow craft paint and allowed them to dry. Once that was dry I dipped them into some red craft paint. I then went back over them, making the red and yellow juncture a little irregular.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9GR-tISAuJE/UZBHevi2wTI/AAAAAAAABpA/bpztOcV0yVo/s1600/Torches.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="163" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9GR-tISAuJE/UZBHevi2wTI/AAAAAAAABpA/bpztOcV0yVo/s320/Torches.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The flames have been cut off of the Q-tips and glued into place in the baskets.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, there it is. A fun and quick project that can yield some nice items for your dungeons. I went with gold for the color of these torch stands, but you can of course use a black or a silver for a completely different look, or use different beads for a different style. These torch stands are a little ornate, different colors and beads will give a completely different look. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this little article. If you make some of these I'd love to see them.</div>

In the last post I ended with a teaser pic showing our <a href="http://hirstarts.com/">Hirst Arts</a> Water Caverns. Ever since I first saw these I've been wanting them. There's even an excellent step by step tutorial on making the<a href="http://hirstarts.com/cavern/watercavern.html"> Water Caverns</a>. It's a very thorough tutorial, covering everything from casting the pieces, through assembly and layout, painting, even has sections on making water for the river pieces. Well worth a read and full of useful tips, even if you aren't making a water cavern right now. :)<br />
<br />
As I said I really wanted a water cavern, but I didn't own any of the molds. It takes 5 molds to make these which cost $140. Bruce generously offers 10% off for orders between 5-9 molds which cuts the cost to $126 plus $7 shipping for a total of $133. A decent deal, I almost went with that. The problem would have been all of the casting I would have had to do. The project plans say:<br />
<br />
<b>Cast Mold #81 ten times</b><br />
<b>Cast Mold #82 ten times</b><br />
<b>Cast Mold #85 six times</b><br />
<b>Cast Mold #281 thirty times</b><br />
<b>Cast Mold #282 twelve times</b><br />
<br />
That's a lot of casting. And I didn't have a lot of time available. This is where <a href="http://www.nalsworkshop.com/">Naloomi's Workshop</a> comes in. He offers a complete <a href="http://www.nalsworkshop.com/water-cavern-set-p-237.html">Water Cavern Set</a>, already precast, of all of the components you need, plus many extra pieces. Saves a great deal of time. And at $120 it's a steal. So that's what I did. I bought Naloomi's Water Cavern set and then Mark and I constructed it following the Hirst Arts tutorial. Shipping was fast and almost everything arrived perfectly intact. A few of the longer cavern wall pieces were broken in transit. But that wasn't from poor packaging. I have enough bubble wrap from the packaging to start my own packing company. And the few broken pieces were easily glued back together.<br />
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Thanks for bearing with me through the text. I wanted to give credit to Hirst Arts and Naloomi's Workshop. Pic time :)</div>

This is the broken wall section in the Gothic Dungeon which connects the dungeon to the Water Caverns. That's one of the Orcs from the Wrath of Ashardalon boardgame. You get 42 unpainted plastic D&D minis with the set. We are slowly painting all of them.<br />

</div>
I've been playing 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons with my sons. I've primarily been the Dungeon Master, but my son Bob has also DMed. We've had some great times playing and my son Mark has helped me make dungeon terrain from Hirst Arts molds. We made some of the Gothic Dungeon set following Bruce Hirst's tutorial from the Hirst Arts website. Here's some pics of the Gothic Dungeon.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u5XCmoqfdMI/UYRQBDCOIZI/AAAAAAAABhw/pCr15nCPWYs/s1600/dungeon+14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u5XCmoqfdMI/UYRQBDCOIZI/AAAAAAAABhw/pCr15nCPWYs/s320/dungeon+14.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The shot above shows one of the rooms being raised on pillars. The pillars were made from Keurig coffee K-cups. I noticed that K-cups looked to be about the right size to use to raise up rooms in the dungeon for multi-level play. So I cleaned out used K-cups and poured excess plaster from when Mark and I were casting the Gothic molds for the dungeon. They are very strong and almost perfect height for the stairs we made.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5C0MP34OEmo/UYRRVBFP93I/AAAAAAAABjA/kLbv8MWHV2U/s1600/dungeon.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5C0MP34OEmo/UYRRVBFP93I/AAAAAAAABjA/kLbv8MWHV2U/s320/dungeon.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Another shot showing the elevated room using K-cup pillars.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-boiJIbWnfCA/UYRQeto1YDI/AAAAAAAABiM/xca5KK10E7A/s1600/Witches+room.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-boiJIbWnfCA/UYRQeto1YDI/AAAAAAAABiM/xca5KK10E7A/s320/Witches+room.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
A detail shot of the elevated room. It has been dressed with mostly pieces from the Unique Inn Accessories Mold #59, but there are a few other pieces as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GOabZKhD2ak/UYRVsxIBFII/AAAAAAAABjU/fKxj3EgPMmM/s1600/dungeon+12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GOabZKhD2ak/UYRVsxIBFII/AAAAAAAABjU/fKxj3EgPMmM/s320/dungeon+12.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
Another view of the elevated room. This shot shows the bearskin rug in front of the fireplace. I made that from Sculpey polymer clay and am inordinately proud of it.</div>
<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wyO6MCSWVdw/UYRQDmWoZSI/AAAAAAAABiA/pbYlDExL_Dg/s1600/dungeon+16.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wyO6MCSWVdw/UYRQDmWoZSI/AAAAAAAABiA/pbYlDExL_Dg/s320/dungeon+16.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Dungeon from a different angle. The room with the blue and silver floor tiles has Knight statues in the alcoves which were purchased from <a href="http://www.nalsworkshop.com/">Naloomi's Workshop.</a> I've always gotten great deals and great service from him. He sells pre-cast Hirst Arts bricks and many very nice accessories. More about him later.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2y-sWSWb4mM/UYRQDDolggI/AAAAAAAABh4/tMHQs9wTaa0/s1600/dungeon+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2y-sWSWb4mM/UYRQDDolggI/AAAAAAAABh4/tMHQs9wTaa0/s320/dungeon+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vJoE6aF7Joc/UYRQg0AqUnI/AAAAAAAABiQ/Zipzwjk3k1c/s1600/dungeon+17.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vJoE6aF7Joc/UYRQg0AqUnI/AAAAAAAABiQ/Zipzwjk3k1c/s320/dungeon+17.jpg" width="267" /></a></div>
Some of the rooms got special floors, mainly because I was running short of regular floor tiles. :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZfwgwuT2Ddc/UYRQrerkjlI/AAAAAAAABiw/dOf8r3TA8Y8/s1600/dungeon+18.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="313" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZfwgwuT2Ddc/UYRQrerkjlI/AAAAAAAABiw/dOf8r3TA8Y8/s320/dungeon+18.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This shows some of the corridor pieces. I tried to keep at least one wall low, for ease of play and visibility of minis.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ItLnuiokC4s/UYRQqOd4epI/AAAAAAAABio/JiOvt1P66xE/s1600/dungeon+19.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ItLnuiokC4s/UYRQqOd4epI/AAAAAAAABio/JiOvt1P66xE/s320/dungeon+19.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The room with the pillars and red and yellow floor tiles is called the King's Hall. The Elf Wizard mini in the King's Hall was painted by my son Bob. He did an awesome job on it. The statues flanking him came out of a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Safari-LTD-Ancient-Egypt-Toob/dp/B000GYSZES">Toobs Toys Egypt set</a>. I got mine at Hobby Lobby with a 40% coupon. The giant sarcophagus in the room with wall pillars (center) is one I made.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tnEWOCJUUT4/UYRQohrXoFI/AAAAAAAABig/LiilqW6awf0/s1600/dungeon+29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tnEWOCJUUT4/UYRQohrXoFI/AAAAAAAABig/LiilqW6awf0/s320/dungeon+29.jpg" width="280" /></a></div>
Another room and corridor with a fancy floor. The trapdoor piece is a custom job by Mark.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u56fZ2jct0s/UYRQtxc36sI/AAAAAAAABi4/UjPiBJ3HQtc/s1600/dungeon+31.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="264" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u56fZ2jct0s/UYRQtxc36sI/AAAAAAAABi4/UjPiBJ3HQtc/s320/dungeon+31.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
A different angle shot. The sarcophagus is another custom job by Mark. He's prolific.<br />

I have not posted in a long time. But now I'm back. I've had a nice 2x2 foot Zuzzy Flagstone Paven mat sitting around for a while. Finally got around to painting it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I-WIzoU68pQ/UYAsre3EiZI/AAAAAAAABg8/EVxmn7AIBxI/s1600/mat+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I-WIzoU68pQ/UYAsre3EiZI/AAAAAAAABg8/EVxmn7AIBxI/s320/mat+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DiTX6B4pDMg/UYAs2XKvxfI/AAAAAAAABhI/U0tInSUTFl4/s1600/mat+c-u+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DiTX6B4pDMg/UYAs2XKvxfI/AAAAAAAABhI/U0tInSUTFl4/s320/mat+c-u+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
It was a quick, easy project. First I painted the mat with black craft paint thinned with Magic Wash. Then I followed the cavern floor painting technique described by Bruce Hirst on the Hirst Arts website. It uses an "olive drab" base color with a "khaki" drybrush. I then picked out 1 or 2 rocks in each square with a different, brighter color. I'll probably use the mat in D&D for a town or city setting, maybe a cavern.<br />

I recently got the Hasslefree Miniatures Post-Apoc Scooby Gang and got them painted up. My son Mark also painted a Reaper Mini version of Firefly's Jayne Cobb. I did a little work on it to finish it off. I love these minis.<br />

I've been wanting one for a while and got it hooked up and running today. I've got a bunch Of Stoelzel's Structures I still need to build and this should help a lot with that.<br />

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a great day out there.Luckyjoehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09572819691139763475noreply@blogger.com23tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1797331547651284116.post-42030776748574303992012-07-20T06:51:00.001-07:002012-07-20T06:51:09.174-07:00Great Service from Demo's Laser Cut DesignsHi, friends. I just wanted to share with you something cool that happened. I had recently ordered the Filling Station from Demo's Laser Cut Designs. When I got the kit, I found a couple of small problems: the toilet seats were missing, a bookshelf was missing, the top and bottom for one of the gas pumps were missing, and one of the tabs for the bathroom divider wall had been cut slightly too high to fit the slot on the interior wall separating the restrooms from the rest of the store. Nothing real big, really, and nothing that I couldn't easily fix myself. However, I thought he would want to know in case there was a problem with the layout so he could fix it for future kits. So I sent him an e-mail describing the problem. This was on the 4th of July (USA Independence Day holiday). I figured I might hear from him in a few days. I got an e-mail response within the hour, and a very kind response it was. He said he'd be sending me something in the mail to fix it and a little something extra. A few days later I got this big package in the mail from Steve at Demo's Laser Cut Designs, just full of nice pieces of laser cut awesomeness. All of the missing parts were there, along with 2 new restroom walls. I would have been happy with just those replacement parts, but that's not all he sent. Steve also sent the following extras: a 7.5" x 11.5" mdf base for either a new building or weather shield, most of the components to make a whole new weather shield, and almost all of the components for all of the store furnishings, including 3 more gas pumps. How cool is that!?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GDKxJzcGwwg/UAlg7hmBPwI/AAAAAAAABfs/sv_ocmhu9NQ/s1600/dlcd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="432" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GDKxJzcGwwg/UAlg7hmBPwI/AAAAAAAABfs/sv_ocmhu9NQ/s640/dlcd.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
As you can see, Steve sent enough stuff to fill an entire work table. Very generous and very cool.<br />
<br />
That's all for now. I just wanted everyone out there in blogland to see what kind of customer service you get from Demo's Laser Cut Designs, the best kind. Thanks for dropping by.Luckyjoehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09572819691139763475noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1797331547651284116.post-61542111183962732222012-07-15T16:36:00.005-07:002012-07-15T16:36:54.160-07:00Grocery/Big Box StoreHi, friends. I recently played some scenarios for All Things Zombie wherein I had to go to a Big Box store and then a Grocery store as part of the Day One events. Normally I don't play a scenario unless I have the terrain finished and ready to go. That day I went ahead and played without terrain for the store. I just used a big box I had. It was still fun, but lacked the visual element so I didn't post any pics of those scenarios. I finally got around to making the Big Box/Grocery store. Just a quick job, here's pics.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wDUtXBAgZe4/UANJjO337_I/AAAAAAAABdg/ghGXWwIH5-0/s1600/bb+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="348" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wDUtXBAgZe4/UANJjO337_I/AAAAAAAABdg/ghGXWwIH5-0/s400/bb+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Here's a shot of the Big Box store across the parking lot. In that scenario, LJ got owned by a bunch of terrified civilians because he didn't use his katana on humans, just tried going "mano a mano". Predictably, the fat squishy bastard got stomped. The scenario was over for him and he didn't get any goodies.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-927lUBdCuOw/UANJQn9HGhI/AAAAAAAABdY/8fUI1qLbH-w/s1600/bb+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="373" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-927lUBdCuOw/UANJQn9HGhI/AAAAAAAABdY/8fUI1qLbH-w/s400/bb+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's a shot of the Grocery store across the parking lot. As you can see I did a lot of work to differentiate the Grocery store from the Big Box store. :) The signs are stuck onto the building with removable double-sided sticky tape. Anyone recognize the name of the store? Anyway, the Grocery store was LJ's next and last location. I did two things differently with LJ at the start of this scenario. One, I changed his attribute of Stone Cold to Brawler. Since it was Day One, I decided I'd pick a better attribute if I was going to survive the rest of the Apocalypse. The second thing was I decided that terrified civilians represented a significant threat and I took off the kid gloves. I would use the katana in melee. Worked like a charm. Between switching Attributes and using a 2-handed melee weapon, I had much better luck with that scenario. Even found a SAW, used it to kill a couple of gangers, shots attracted Zombies, which I killed with the Katana, for my first Zombie kills. That was so successful a scenario I actually got a Rep increase. So to memorialize that fight, I finished the store building.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7T2_IL8lAG8/UANNN4uTKOI/AAAAAAAABds/G6-ikxngNrw/s1600/bb+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7T2_IL8lAG8/UANNN4uTKOI/AAAAAAAABds/G6-ikxngNrw/s400/bb+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A little about the store. It is 21 x 18 inches x 4 inches tall. It was made from an old Dell Laptop Computer box. I chose it because it had a little built-in box inside that could be used as an interior room. The walls are made from an old WorldWorks Games kitbash siding texture kit I bought several years ago. I went for a simple blue and white color scheme. I was thinking of Ikea's Blue and yellow. I used other WorldWorks Games textures for the windows and doors. Normally I use doors that open and close and windows that are open. This time I went for quick and just used the print-outs glued onto the walls. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2mSJkzI0DUE/UANPJ4phWgI/AAAAAAAABd0/Z69u_sm_BzU/s1600/bb+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2mSJkzI0DUE/UANPJ4phWgI/AAAAAAAABd0/Z69u_sm_BzU/s400/bb+4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The tile floor is from the WWG Mega Mall set. The brown concrete floor in the loading dock area is another WWG texture. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PUoW-gJZL0g/UANPi-5ol0I/AAAAAAAABd8/G_AkQySol4E/s1600/bb+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="303" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PUoW-gJZL0g/UANPi-5ol0I/AAAAAAAABd8/G_AkQySol4E/s400/bb+5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The shelving units and refrigerator cabinet come from Stoelzel's Structures Market, as do the register counters. The two gun cabinets in the loading dock are also from Stoelzel's Structures, I think it was the Modular Lair. The shelving is held in place with double-sided tape for stability, but I can reposition them if I want to. I left plenty of room between the shelves for getting my fingers in there.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
This was a fun little project that I just sort of slapped together. I had printed out all of the paper textures a while back so I just had to glue them on. The box I used <span style="background-color: white;">for the building </span><span style="background-color: white;">had some dents and areas where the cardboard was different thickness. I could have done things to fix that, and did, a little, but there are still quite a few obvious flaws. However, for a quick job, it'll do. And, because it was made from an actual "big box", I can use it for storage. :)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
That's it for now. Thanks for looking.</div>

I'm posting some pics of my mostly finished Filling Station from Demo's Laser Cut Designs. This is a wonderful model with lots of excellent features. It comes with a playable interior, furnishings such as gas pumps, sinks, toilets, store shelves, even a big beer cooler. There's a nice weather shield over the pumps, and a huge marquee sign with the gas prices. There's a big 11.5" x 11.5 " mdf base upon which to mount the model. There are even free pdf graphics you can download for signs and cash registers. And it was all dead easy to build. The major pieces of the station are mdf, the furniture is on taskboard (kind of like thinner matte board. I made or downloaded some additional signage. Here's pics.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7u_nN9s4iMM/T_tLFqPuq4I/AAAAAAAABY8/nUaQxsg6SZE/s1600/fs+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7u_nN9s4iMM/T_tLFqPuq4I/AAAAAAAABY8/nUaQxsg6SZE/s400/fs+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Here's an overhead shot featuring the marquee sign, weather shield, and gas pumps. I didn't use the big mdf base sheet and just set the models onto my city board table. I chose to use a blue background for the Station's signage and changed some of the wording.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-R3vKGTyGl8E/T_tLpXJJRnI/AAAAAAAABZE/9lTh1GGZYuA/s1600/fs+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="366" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-R3vKGTyGl8E/T_tLpXJJRnI/AAAAAAAABZE/9lTh1GGZYuA/s400/fs+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Shot from a different angle. You can see a little of the building front.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q1o6EXLh4Ns/T_tL6mDkGAI/AAAAAAAABZM/CyxpvUBoYKk/s1600/fs+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q1o6EXLh4Ns/T_tL6mDkGAI/AAAAAAAABZM/CyxpvUBoYKk/s400/fs+5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The opposite side. The closest end of the building has two public Restrooms. I closed one door and left the other open. The doors are perfectly sized for the blue door frames. They have two hinge pieces that slot right into the frame so closely that they stay in place, even without glue. But because they are not glued, I can still open or close them. I really like the doors!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kX621GIB4bw/T_tQJ1nItuI/AAAAAAAABZY/0XZq9StFKuE/s1600/fs+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kX621GIB4bw/T_tQJ1nItuI/AAAAAAAABZY/0XZq9StFKuE/s400/fs+6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Here's a shot from the front of the station looking under the weather shield canopy into the store front. There's a WorldWorks Games ice machine and newspaper machine I made fresh for this build. The trashcans by the pumps are simple scratchbuilds. One is a plaster cast of the inside of a cover for a disposable plastic water bottle. The other is just a plastic cap from an empty tube of toothpaste, painted black and then drybrushed silver.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
An interior view. The floor tiles are from Stoelzel Structures Modular Urban Center Kit. The building is based on a vinyl floor tile. Against the far wall is one of the bookshelves that come with the Filling Station kit. In the middle of the floor is a 2-sided sloping shelf unit for merchandise. I need to make some stuff to put on the shelves. To the upper right is the big cooler cabinet, just below it along the right-hand wall is a paper ATM machine from WorldWorks Games. The long "L" shaped counter is part of the furniture that comes with the Filling Station kit. I have placed a couple of Hirst Arts bits on the countertop to represent a cash register and control for the gas pumps. To the left of the counter along the bottom wall are 2 video games from Stoelzel Structures kits.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2GDu3pSwNxs/T_tVSCQT1jI/AAAAAAAABaQ/6O0saw4vhwA/s1600/fs+13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2GDu3pSwNxs/T_tVSCQT1jI/AAAAAAAABaQ/6O0saw4vhwA/s400/fs+13.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Another view of the interior layout. Even with furnishings in place there is still plenty of room for minis.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fVcWNeoiSvc/T_tVptxTn3I/AAAAAAAABaY/OvrZyAD8DK4/s1600/fs+15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fVcWNeoiSvc/T_tVptxTn3I/AAAAAAAABaY/OvrZyAD8DK4/s320/fs+15.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This shot shows the restrooms a little better and you can also see the video games slightly better.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
This shot shows the awesome beer cooler and the ATM machine a little better.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
The pic above shows some of the furnishings better. It also shows an Ohio Lottery sign. What's a convenience store without Lotto. The Lotto sign is also being used to cover the spot where the tab from the restroom divider wall shows on that back wall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-467Z-hih0Tg/T_tc4NL5Y9I/AAAAAAAABbo/l0BOl7x-6iQ/s1600/fs+24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-467Z-hih0Tg/T_tc4NL5Y9I/AAAAAAAABbo/l0BOl7x-6iQ/s400/fs+24.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Pic above shows the two video games from the Stoelzel Structures Modular Lair Expansion 2. I screwed up the one on the right a little but I'll still use it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Looking down into one of the restrooms. Plenty of room. The toilet and sinks even have drain holes in them. How cool is that?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-P7nBfBmNPSY/T_tWrstt4JI/AAAAAAAABa0/_j7jGK3QV58/s1600/fs+18.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-P7nBfBmNPSY/T_tWrstt4JI/AAAAAAAABa0/_j7jGK3QV58/s1600/fs+18.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Here's a shot of one of the gas pumps. The blue graphic with the keypad and display is part of the free pdf download from Demo's Laser Cut Design webstore. I added the No Smoking symbol and the advertisement signs for the top of the pumps. The hoses for the pump handles are made from black wire from the Hobby Lobby jewelry section.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vm1AwfaxuCo/T_tXlahGqRI/AAAAAAAABa8/ulCoXd9LCKM/s1600/fs+19.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vm1AwfaxuCo/T_tXlahGqRI/AAAAAAAABa8/ulCoXd9LCKM/s1600/fs+19.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A view of the pump from the side. The pump handles fit into slots cut into the casing. The hoses and pump handles give a very nice 3d effect.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
I just thought this was a nice scenic shot showing how well the filling station fits in on the table.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Well, that's all for now. I had a great time building this model. I hope you like it and will consider giving <a href="http://demoslaser-cutdesigns.weebly.com/">Demo's Laser Cut Designs</a> a try.</div>

It's been a while since I posted. The family and I went on vacation to Geneva on the Lake, a nice little resort town on Lake Erie. We had a great time, swam, relaxed and generally just chilled. I brought up some minis and got some painting done, too. Here's what I got done.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q0JaKf3Aepw/T_nXSPXABZI/AAAAAAAABXo/Bkoyu0Sdcvg/s1600/catachans.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="128" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q0JaKf3Aepw/T_nXSPXABZI/AAAAAAAABXo/Bkoyu0Sdcvg/s320/catachans.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Pic above is a few GW Catachans I'll use for Survivors or Gangers in ATZ. I tried to paint them in the U.S. Navy's new Aquaflage uniform (just the pants, the shirts are just one of the colors from the aquaflage. They're based on black sand and some have road line markings to represent asphalt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TebfLmO2Vrc/T_nYKkmfP9I/AAAAAAAABXw/-Tf--qs5coA/s1600/clix+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="182" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TebfLmO2Vrc/T_nYKkmfP9I/AAAAAAAABXw/-Tf--qs5coA/s320/clix+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Pic above is a few Clix repaints. Nothing fancy, just a few more guns.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cnMY5Kp0MYc/T_nYkrDhpDI/AAAAAAAABX4/xeewVGT20tE/s1600/clix.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="197" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cnMY5Kp0MYc/T_nYkrDhpDI/AAAAAAAABX4/xeewVGT20tE/s320/clix.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A few more Clix conversions or repaints. Chainsaw guy had a head swap from the Defiance Games United Americas Marine Corps. The two suits had a repaint, and one had his pistol arm repositioned.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="text-align: center;">These are "Get Some! 28mm Science Fiction minis from <a href="http://sgmm.biz/sciencefiction.html">Sgt Major Miniatures</a>. These are the rest of the crew and cast of Joss Whedon's Firefly series. From the left, the Doctor, Simon, his sister, River, Caylee the ship's mechanic, and Shepherd Book. I just realized Inara was missing, I found her hiding on my painting table. I used sand from the beach the bases on these minis, as well as a few others. The sand has lots of differently sized particles for a nice, irregular texture. I'm using these minis now for "terrified civilians" for encounters in All Things Zombie by TwoHour Wargames.</span><br />
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="text-align: center;">Pic above shows the last of my Hasslefree Minis which were waiting in my painting queue.</span><br />

<span style="text-align: center;">Pics above are 6 <a href="http://defiancegames.com/index.php/shop#ecwid:category=1831024&mode=product&product=7831674">Defiance Games United Americas Marine Corps</a> (UAMC). These are excellent plastics with great detail. I made a slight conversion on a couple in that I used a couple of torsos from GW Empire Militia. Each UAMC sprue has 3 leg sections, 6 heads, multiple weapons, but only 2 torsos, so you can only build 2 figures from each sprue. By using the GW torsos, (which fit perfectly btw) you get 3 troopers from each sprue. Can you see the ones with the GW torsos? The nice thing about using the GW torsos (which I had in the bitz box) with the UAMC parts is you can make 36 UA Marines from 1 $30 box (83 cents each), instead of 24 Marines ($1.25 each). </span><br />

<span style="text-align: center;">Pic above is my crowd of mostly unarmed civilians including recently painted ones. I'll use them for "Terrified Civilians" in ATZ encounters. They're a mixture of Hasslefree Minis, Sgt Major Minis, Clix, and game figures from the boardgame "Last Night on Earth.</span><br />
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="text-align: center;">I've got a project underway which I think you will like, it's the <a href="http://demoslaser-cutdesigns.weebly.com/online-shop---modernnear-future-buildings.html">Filling Station</a> from Demo's Laser Cut Designs. Scroll to the bottom of the page. I saw their <a href="http://geekinthebasement.blogspot.com/2012/06/finished-shops-for-gray-haven.html">28mm 4-pack of shops</a> on PapaSpanky's excellent Geek in the Basement blog.</span><br />
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="text-align: center;">Also of note, I finished reading "<a href="http://djksfantasyworld.blogspot.com/p/karl-birth-of-mystery.html">Karl, Birth of Mystery" by D.J. Kettlety</a>, a fellow blogger. A great read, I think I finished it 3 days while on vacation. He already has plans for books 2 and 3 of the series, which I will certainly be reading, too. </span><br />

<span style="text-align: center;">Well, thanks for stopping by. Comments and criticisms welcome.</span><br />

We're heading out on a little vacation for a while. Up to the lake. I'm bring some stuff to paint and some paper print-outs to make some furniture for my houses and boxes/merchandise for my big box store project. I actually played the final 2 locations for my Day One scenario. Ended up being put OOF in the 3rd location (Big Box store). I just used my fists fighting the Terrified Civilians at the Big Box store. I had to fight 6, the 5th put me OOF. I did better in the 4th one <span style="background-color: white;">(Supermarket)</span><span style="background-color: white;"> and actually killed some gangers and Zombies and even found a SAW. I used the Risk and Rewards cards for the first time, that's how I got the SAW. Used the SAW to kill the Gangers who came from a PEF resolution, the SAW attracted Zombies whom I killed with the Katana. I also didn't mess around with the Terrified Civilians in the 4th one. I used my katana on them, too. Made a big difference. Killed 4 in no time. LJ is now Rep 4. </span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;">Anyway, I'll check in on you folks' blog while I'm gone as I can. See you soon.</span>Luckyjoehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09572819691139763475noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1797331547651284116.post-3612150229356239622012-06-16T07:16:00.001-07:002012-06-16T07:21:44.661-07:00All Things Zombie Batrep - Day One, Location 2, Home<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hi, friends. I couldn't stay asleep. Got up at 5:30 am. Drank some coffee. Decided to do another location for Day One scenario of ATZ. I'm using rules from Better Dead Than Zed, and some from I, Zombie. The first location I did was ATM, that went well. I had chosen 4 locations for Day One. Now it's time for location 2, home. 3x3 foot table. Zuzzy mat, homemade roads, houses mainly from Stoelzel's Structures.<br />
<br />
Narrative:<br />
<i>Having just hit the ATM for some money, Joe got in his car and headed home, planning to touch base with the family, then go to WalMart and one of the nearby Supermarkets. Calling home on the cell, Joe said "Hi, sweetie. I'll be home soon. Is everyone okay? And do you have the list ready for the things you want me to pick up from the stores?" "Yes, everybody's fine, just a little scared. The list is ready", Joe's wife responded. "Be careful coming home. There's a roadblock at the end of the street, and a Police car was cruising by telling everyone to stay indoors because of a "Civil Emergency". We might not be able to go shopping to get supplies if they're closing roads." "Yeah, Joe said, "we'll see. Everything seems fine here. Okay, I'll let you go. Love you. See you in a bit." Pocketing his cell phone, Joe saw the Police barrier at the end of his street. Big-ass concrete block. "Damn, no way around that. I'll have to park and walk the rest of the way" Joe thought.</i><br />

PEF Placement</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CjSpPZrhDwY/T9yDf_BNKpI/AAAAAAAABWE/rQljbmN93Yc/s1600/PEFS+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CjSpPZrhDwY/T9yDf_BNKpI/AAAAAAAABWE/rQljbmN93Yc/s320/PEFS+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All PEFS placed behind cover and out of LOS.</div>
<div>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Turn 1</span></b></div>
<div>
Activation: <span style="color: red;"><b>Humans 3</b>, </span><span style="color: #6aa84f;"><b>Zombies 2</b></span></div>
<div>
LJ moves 8" up the street. PEF in section 4 now in LOS. False Alarm.</div>
<div>
<i>"What's that behind that tree? Oh, stray cat. Gotta stop being so jumpy", Joe thought. </i></div>
<div>
I did a Fast Move once the PEF was resolved to finish LJ's movement. Used only 1 d6 for additional movement, because of "Slow" attribute, instead of additional 2d6 per the advice of Vampifan. (Thanks, Bryan) Rolled a 5, so moved an additional 5". Man, that fatboy can run. :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EOtOFvjg8pY/T9yHaZRKtgI/AAAAAAAABWU/wtxqZyt9nsE/s1600/h+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EOtOFvjg8pY/T9yHaZRKtgI/AAAAAAAABWU/wtxqZyt9nsE/s400/h+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The first PEF resolved is represented by the black dice under the tree. It turned out to be a stray cat. (False Alarm)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bZmtjYHQjFw/T9yI6h203VI/AAAAAAAABW0/nm_wN4Zuzls/s1600/h+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="302" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bZmtjYHQjFw/T9yI6h203VI/AAAAAAAABW0/nm_wN4Zuzls/s400/h+4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Completing the Fast Move. There's a PEF hidden in the tree line to LJ's right (Black dice).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Zombie's Turn: PEF in Section 6 can't move, it's Rep was higher than the ZED activation roll. The REP 2 PEF passed 1d6 and moved "1 section toward the nearest PEF, ending its move in cover". Hmmm, this is getting interesting. LJ's got two PEFs in the sector near him and he doesn't know they're there.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>"It's quiet ..., too quiet" LJ mutters to himself.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Turn 2</span></div>

"If unarmed he will tell you to leave the area", if visibly armed he will draw his gun and order you to surrender your weapon." </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: red; text-align: -webkit-auto;"><b>I wasn't quite sure how to handle this. It's not illegal to carry a sword around, but you are visibly armed with a katana. I decided to submit it to the Dice Gods. 1-3 on a d6 he arrests LJ, 4-6 he lets him go. Rolled a 5. Yay. What would you guys do?</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><i>Policeman: Sir, what are you doing with that sword?</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><i>LJ: I'm just taking it home, Officer, I live in the white house behind you.</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><i>Policeman: Okay, sir. Just get inside your house and stay there. The Mayor has declared an Emergency Curfew and all citizens are required to remain in their homes and stay off the streets until further notice.</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><i>LJ: Yes sir, Officer. No problem.</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><i>With that, the policemen gets back in his cruiser, checks the roadblock and heads back up the street.</i></span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
PEFs must still have not been in LOS because of the trees.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Turn 3</span><br />
Activation: <span style="color: red;"><b>Humans 4</b>, </span><span style="color: #6aa84f; font-weight: bold;">Zombies 2. </span>LJ rolled too high, can't activate. Both PEFs pass 0d6, can't move either.<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Turn 4</span><br />
Activation: <span style="color: red;"><b>Humans 3</b>, </span><span style="color: #6aa84f; font-weight: bold;">Zombies 2.</span>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Pic above shows the 2 PEFs hiding in the trees.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
PEF Resolution - Rep 2 PEF is a false alarm. Rep 3 PEF rolled on Random Road Encounter. Result was "It's Freakin Hot". Either consume 1 food unit, or Rep is decreased by 1 for the remainder of the scenario. Great, now I'm Rep 2. At least I didn't get all killed up by Zombies. :)<br />
<br />
<br />
Fast Move an additional 5". Rolling good.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U1HsdW7rStY/T9yRW1_6UiI/AAAAAAAABXU/kxij3G_a-YU/s1600/h+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="373" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U1HsdW7rStY/T9yRW1_6UiI/AAAAAAAABXU/kxij3G_a-YU/s400/h+8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
LJ's almost there.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Turn 5</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">Activation: </span><span style="color: red; text-align: -webkit-auto;"><b>Humans 2</b>, </span><span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><span style="color: #6aa84f; font-weight: bold;">Zombies 6. </span>All of the PEFS have been resolved, but I figured I still needed to roll because you never know if you'll get doubles (optional PEF generation), a 7 or 11. However, LuckyJoe continues to be lucky and moves 8" to enter his home, ending the scenario successfully, and bloodlessly.</span></div>

<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">Honey, I'm home. And where's all the damn furniture?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">Another lucky run. No Zombies at all, again. LJ is beginning to doubt the existence of Zombies, probably just some media hysteria for ratings. One of the things I really like about the <a href="http://www.wargamevault.com/index.php?&manufacturers_id=4244">Stoelzel Structures</a> buildings I've been making is the beautiful interiors. Carl Stoelzel, the artist and designer, has done an excellent job on the interior textures of these buildings. So, without further yakking, here's some pics of some of the Stoelzel neighborhood house interiors.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for looking. I hope you take the opportunity to pick up some of the Stoelzel Structures buildings. They are beautifully done with playable interiors and furnishings.</div>

<br />
You ever notice how a project always gets bigger and bigger? If you remember, I posted a Day One scenario for All Things Zombie a while back. The first destination was an ATM. That went like a breeze. Then my second destination was home. I was getting ready to do that scenario but realized I didn't have enough suburban houses (I live in the burbs of a small town). I had one Plasticville house I was planning to use, but no other suburban houses. This is the house I was going to use. You may have seen it from an earlier ATZ batrep.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h_QKZCzufrk/T9kxUMeqf3I/AAAAAAAABSA/fEeufzT7pZE/s1600/house.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="220" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h_QKZCzufrk/T9kxUMeqf3I/AAAAAAAABSA/fEeufzT7pZE/s400/house.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It sort of resembles my real house in that it's white with black shutters.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mCnjnX-JxaI/T9kxvT7UMzI/AAAAAAAABSI/tP1ktZUfzQ8/s1600/house.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mCnjnX-JxaI/T9kxvT7UMzI/AAAAAAAABSI/tP1ktZUfzQ8/s400/house.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My real house.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Anyway, I was going to use the Plasticville house and make some paper houses for the rest of the neighborhood. I chose some Stoelzel Structures paper terrain houses. The houses are very cool and come with playable interiors, and even furnishings. Unfortunately, the paper houses were much larger than the Plasticville house. So, then I had to scratchbuild a loose replica of my house as well as build 3 Stoelzel Structures houses, in order to play the next scenario. I built a Stoelzel Structure Cape Cod style house, Split-Level house, and a Farmhouse. I also bought the Raised Ranch house, but haven't built it yet. I'm using a 3x3 board and a Zuzzy Ruined Forest latex mat for the base of the terrain. That meant I needed roads. So then I had to make roads to place on the mat. I took a page from Morbious's <a href="http://showcaseterrain.blogspot.com/2012/05/city-update-2.html">website</a> and made some roads. Instead of using hardboard like he did, I used my cheap vinyl floor tiles, painting them black and adding lane and edge lines with paint pens. Really quick and cheap and they came out pretty good. I named this post "Mr. Stoelzel's Neighborhood" because 3 of the 4 houses are from his kits, and the last one is a scratchbuild using some of his textures as well as textures from WorldWorks Games.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Here's a shot of the back and side of the scratchbuild LuckyJoe house in the foreground, with the Stoelzel Cape house in the background. The balcony is made from a piece of foamcore with toothpicks (cocktail sticks for our cousins across the pond), and coffee stirrer pieces for the top rail. I use that balcony to spray paint minis and such in real life. Could also prove a good vantage point to cap Zombies in the coming Apocalypse. I'm just sayin'. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LnUPjSuUlUs/T9k4IuHqS6I/AAAAAAAABS0/xc2oFI7PsDE/s1600/hood+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="198" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LnUPjSuUlUs/T9k4IuHqS6I/AAAAAAAABS0/xc2oFI7PsDE/s400/hood+5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
View from a different angle, showing at least some of all 4 houses.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XV8V5SAqxns/T9k4qW5atQI/AAAAAAAABS8/hqpqyY7Wd08/s1600/hood+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="220" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XV8V5SAqxns/T9k4qW5atQI/AAAAAAAABS8/hqpqyY7Wd08/s400/hood+6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Yet another angle. The Cape house in the foreground has an upstairs. I may kitbash it to make a Ranch-style one story house. One of the really cool features of all of these Stoelzel Structures houses is they have multiple colors of exterior walls. Usually a yellow, green, red, or blue. You can get a great tabletop variety from just one kit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-woQMl7SjXOU/T9k5ynH8vEI/AAAAAAAABTE/AvPPeHqM3TM/s1600/hood+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-woQMl7SjXOU/T9k5ynH8vEI/AAAAAAAABTE/AvPPeHqM3TM/s400/hood+7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This shot is primarily featuring the Split Level in the foregound right and the Farmhouse in the background. The Split Level was made using one of the alternate color schemes. It also has a chimney which I chose not to use. I did use the chimney for the Farmhouse. That chimney is solid, made with 5 layers of 5mm foamcore cut to size. I like my terrain tough.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ChZu1e1vTdc/T9k63D_-eZI/AAAAAAAABTM/we_9B8oXflM/s1600/hood+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="205" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ChZu1e1vTdc/T9k63D_-eZI/AAAAAAAABTM/we_9B8oXflM/s400/hood+8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Another view down the street. The window frames were made from 1/2" square chicken wire painted white and inserted into the window openings. The shutters were printed and mounted onto mattboard (a technique I learned from Vampifan). Each of the Stoelzel houses has a page of 6 different colored shutters with 12 shutters of each color (Brown, Green, Black, Blue, Red and White). I really love the variety of builds you get from each kit. For example, the Cape house in the left foreground has five different exterior color schemes, has optional dormers (having 0, 1, 2, or 3 dormers means 4 different houses) and an optional rear roof extension. When you consider all of the possible combinations of colors, dormers, rear roof extension or no extension, you can make a lot of houses from one $4 pdf. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VX3pBledKXA/T9k_6SNTfnI/AAAAAAAABTY/55EW8-6wgwA/s1600/hood+10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VX3pBledKXA/T9k_6SNTfnI/AAAAAAAABTY/55EW8-6wgwA/s400/hood+10.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This shows in the right foreground the red Split Level version I chose, featuring the side and the rear. The little black (asphalt) driveways by the houses are made from pieces of vinyl window blinds painted black. I really like the design of the Split Level house. It makes for a nice change from 1 or 2 story buildings, though I had a hell of a time making the interior stairs between levels. Could have used more detailed instructions. In the background on the left is the white LuckyJoe replica house. It's not a perfect replica, but it's close. I stole the windvane from the Plasticville house for the replica.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-j6yA17Abyi0/T9lCI2S6RwI/AAAAAAAABTg/YSkHEgl3_-I/s1600/hood+11jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-j6yA17Abyi0/T9lCI2S6RwI/AAAAAAAABTg/YSkHEgl3_-I/s400/hood+11jpg.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This shot shows the back of the red Split Level house. The stairs are my usual kitbash of the Stoelzel Structure stairs. I used his very nice brick texture for the sides of the stairs, mounted onto mattboard ala Vampifan, then used coffee stirrers painted white for the stair steps. The gaps between the stair steps allow you to slip the slotta bases of the minis into the space between steps, so minis can be placed mid stair, if you wish. Across the street you see the LuckyJoe house. Note the red door. My wife and I painted our front door red recently. It gives a nice splash of color against all that black and white. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Well, that's it for now. I've now got a suburban terrain board to use, and can now proceed to do destination 2, home. Next will be a big box store, and then a Supermarket. Hey, Dave Stoelzel, can you please make a Walmart-ish kit, and a Supermarket? :) Thanks for looking, everyone. Have a great day or evening. </div>

</div>
A while back I succumbed to another Two Hour Wargames title, "Long Rifle". This is a skirmish game set in the French and Indian War, an era I have always been interested in. My interest has been further peaked following all of the cool FIW goodness on Ray Rousell's "<a href="http://onelover-ray.blogspot.com/">Don't Throw A 1</a>" blog. So, armed with my THW Long Rifle rulebook and with some Conquest Miniatures Miami Indians and Colonials, I decided to start making some Long Rifle terrain. First piece is a log cabin, made from 1/4" dowel.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lZ1aPiBaz7M/T7wmYPDGPpI/AAAAAAAABQA/jXs3oRLRT6w/s1600/cabin+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="330" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lZ1aPiBaz7M/T7wmYPDGPpI/AAAAAAAABQA/jXs3oRLRT6w/s400/cabin+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Material used: 1/4 inch round dowel, cereal card for the roof, Hirst Arts fieldstone pieces for the front porch, chimney and fireplace. Alo HA wooden plank pieces for the fireplace mantle. Based on a piece of mdf with sand and static grass on the base, as well as some pieces of air dry clay along the base of the cabin on the long walls. The front door is made from coffee stirrers.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FYEprMZJQJ0/T7wnkOkPyMI/AAAAAAAABQI/MCfHCzRzxJo/s1600/cabin+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FYEprMZJQJ0/T7wnkOkPyMI/AAAAAAAABQI/MCfHCzRzxJo/s400/cabin+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
This was a simple build with only 1 window and 1 door. You can see the air dry clay "stones" along the base of the long wall of the cabin in this view.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c51FxFvDChs/T7woKfjXMvI/AAAAAAAABQQ/6i5c0EpxMLQ/s1600/cabin+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="332" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c51FxFvDChs/T7woKfjXMvI/AAAAAAAABQQ/6i5c0EpxMLQ/s400/cabin+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Pic above shows the rear of the cabin with a Hirst Arts fieldstone chimney. The upper portion lifts off for access to the interior. Hmmm, didn't do too good a job making the upper portion of wall match with the lower. I'll have to fix that.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T3-W9vAXUfI/T7wo5tc62HI/AAAAAAAABQY/o8w3zIMds8E/s1600/cabin+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T3-W9vAXUfI/T7wo5tc62HI/AAAAAAAABQY/o8w3zIMds8E/s400/cabin+4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
This shot shows the roof lifted off. A packed dirt floor, whitewashed walls (log cabins tended to be dark) and the rough mantle and fireplace made from Hirst Arts wooden plank and fieldstone molds. No furniture, yet, though there would not have been much.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AedreWlMEt4/T7wppw6Fv2I/AAAAAAAABQg/-CoXD2JKnCA/s1600/cabin+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AedreWlMEt4/T7wppw6Fv2I/AAAAAAAABQg/-CoXD2JKnCA/s400/cabin+5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A side view of the interior.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A5rhjnvKCBo/T7wp3WRcpQI/AAAAAAAABQo/WaILXcjX-Q4/s1600/cabin+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="275" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A5rhjnvKCBo/T7wp3WRcpQI/AAAAAAAABQo/WaILXcjX-Q4/s400/cabin+6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Same view with a Conquest Miniature Miami Indian for scale.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oN9AOL2c5hw/T7wqHQniBuI/AAAAAAAABQw/oIVJE1UHP4c/s1600/cabin+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="321" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oN9AOL2c5hw/T7wqHQniBuI/AAAAAAAABQw/oIVJE1UHP4c/s400/cabin+7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's another view of the cabin with some Conquest Miniatures Miami Indians passing by. I'd hate to be in that cabin and see those Indians out there if they were pissed off.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nc3Pwk-CWvc/T7wqq1enXVI/AAAAAAAABQ4/VkkjQ9Mhlt4/s1600/cabin+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nc3Pwk-CWvc/T7wqq1enXVI/AAAAAAAABQ4/VkkjQ9Mhlt4/s400/cabin+8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A closer view of the Miami Indians. These are beautiful sculpts. I went with the Miamis because I live in Ohio and the Miami were once indigenous here.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QhYv_mBgs40/T7wrKBvn4TI/AAAAAAAABRA/mjNjWjME2E8/s1600/cabin+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="173" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QhYv_mBgs40/T7wrKBvn4TI/AAAAAAAABRA/mjNjWjME2E8/s400/cabin+9.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Showing the Miami from a different angle. There is a lot of detail on these minis. My favorite is the guy in the middle with the rifle and upraised tomahawk.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tBHrTxEYOFA/T7wrqPmZUXI/AAAAAAAABRI/XnlD6w5czw8/s1600/cabin+10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tBHrTxEYOFA/T7wrqPmZUXI/AAAAAAAABRI/XnlD6w5czw8/s400/cabin+10.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh my God, they're coming right at us!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
View from the back. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This cabin was a fun little build. I used a Dremel to cut the dowels and then notched each log at each end with a grinding bit on the Dremel. Took a little while but worth the effort and the cost was minimal. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Next up are some Conquest Miniatures Colonials and an Indian Longhouse. I'm planning to make the Longhouse based on the excellent how-to Ray posted <a href="http://onelover-ray.blogspot.com/2011/04/how-to-build-no1-fiw-indian-longhouses.html">here</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Thanks for looking. I know it's a departure from Zombies. I couldn't help thinking that these Miami Indians would make short work of some Zombies with their Tomahawks and Muskets. </div>

If you want just skip it and go to the batrep below that big paragraph.<br />
<br />
It seemed like all the news shows were carrying stories about the outbreak of what some media dicksmack was calling "Chinese Rabies or CR". Apparently a disease caused by some unknown pathogen, it caused its victims to become crazed, shambling, and murderous, biting and eating the flesh of the non-infected. It was reported that the the disease spread by being bitten by an infected person, making the bitten person "turn" within a matter of 12-24 hours into another ravenous thing. "Chinese Rabies, my ass", Joe thought, "they're Zombies". So far there were some reports of CR in big cities, especially ones with international airports, but nothing reported in small towns, yet, like Findlay, where Joe and his family live. It was a Saturday and the kids and some of the grown kids were home at the house with their Mom. Joe had been scheduled for a 1/2 day at the Acute Clinic where he worked. Relieved at noon by the oncoming, Joe was headed out the door. The oncoming Doc said "I almost called off. There was a case of CR reported in Toledo." "Damn", Joe said, "That's too close. If any of those crazies show up, you should get the hell outta here. I'm gone, good luck." Leaving the clinic, Joe thought that things were getting bad fast. It's only 45 miles to Toledo. Shit, I better get home. I'll call home and make sure everything's okay. Entering the car, a little Hyundai, Joe saw the back seat was still full of his son Stephen's junk. Most noticeable among the junk was Stephen's replica Katana. He had bought it a yard sale for 20 bucks. Steve had borrowed the car recently and gone to a Renaissance Fair with some friends. He had the Katana sharpened at the Fair. He said the swordsmith had told him was a very good replica, and was worth considerably more than he had paid for it. It sharpened up very nicely. Might come in handy, Joe thought. Calling home on the cell phone, his wife Patti told him "Everyone is okay, but it looks there's trouble in Toledo according to the news. We might have to get some supplies, can you stop at the ATM and get some cash?" she asked him. "Sure, it's on the way home", Joe said.<br />
<br />
And so the scenario begins.<br />
I decided to do 4 destinations. 1- ATM. 2- Home. 3- Box Store. 4- Supermarket.<br />
The following is an account of the trip to the ATM.<br />
Joe Rep 3 Star Retired Military. Attributes: Slow and Stone Cold. Weapon: Katana.<br />
Playing on a 4x4 foot table, I placed the ATM objective 18" from the starting edge.<br />
Rolled on the "Getting There Table" vs. Rep. Passed 1d6 but since my Rep (3) was greater than the location # (1) it counted as passing 2d6 - Arrive there normally.<br />
Parked the car at the table edge 18" from the ATM.<br />
Per the rules, no zombies are placed at the start.<br />
Turn 1<br />
Rolled Activation<br />
Humans 3 Z-4. Total was 7. Gotta check to see if a Zed is generated. On Day One Urban areas count as Suburban for Zombie Generation purposes. Need a 5-6 to get a Zombie. Rolled 4. Too low, no Zed.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HMQINX7n9eY/T7-kgTf-yMI/AAAAAAAABRc/1NZh3sFyRLI/s1600/turn+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="275" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HMQINX7n9eY/T7-kgTf-yMI/AAAAAAAABRc/1NZh3sFyRLI/s320/turn+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Move - Did a fast move using the new Fast Move rule. Wasn't quite sure how to play it with the Slow attribute, but decided to ignore Slow since there's no mention of it in the new rule. Even a fat guy can run fast if he has to, at least for a little while. Maybe I'll Houserule it that Slow reduces the additional move by 1/2. <b><span style="color: red;">What are you guys doing?</span></b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iW_3BUwwLkw/T7-kq-jKtZI/AAAAAAAABRk/F_ZlgCgBXDk/s1600/turn+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="254" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iW_3BUwwLkw/T7-kq-jKtZI/AAAAAAAABRk/F_ZlgCgBXDk/s320/turn+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Moving like a fat blur, our hero Fast moved almost to the ATM at the end of turn 1.<br />
<br />
Turn 2<br />
Activation: H -1 Z-6. Another 7, is a Zombie going to show up? Nope, rolled too low again.<br />
Moved to the ATM and collected 3 Luxury items. I guess that's money for this scenario.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NUIbfwsCm0E/T7-mD9jDuqI/AAAAAAAABRs/ckRTJtjHJO0/s1600/turn+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="184" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NUIbfwsCm0E/T7-mD9jDuqI/AAAAAAAABRs/ckRTJtjHJO0/s320/turn+3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Turn 3<br />
Activation: H-6 Z-3. Rolled too high to activate.<br />
Nervous, Joe dropped some of the cash and had to pick it up, count it, and make sure he had it all. "#$%%@%" he muttered.<br />
<br />
Turn 4<br />
Activation: H-2 Z-1.<br />
Fast Move: 14 inches toward the table edge.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JlU2mMC8Hug/T7-m44EVISI/AAAAAAAABR0/yvrM4CBZFyk/s1600/turn+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JlU2mMC8Hug/T7-m44EVISI/AAAAAAAABR0/yvrM4CBZFyk/s320/turn+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Almost there.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Turn 5</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Activation: H-3 Z2.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Got back in the car and headed for Home (Destination 2).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So, destination 1 is done. Once again my luck held out. Thanks for looking.</div>

I haven't much free time lately so I used some of it for small projects. Here's some of them. First up are pallets. I had seen some really nice ones on other peoples' blogs and they inspired me to make some of my own.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r1JPUEi7nc8/T7vxMYvdt6I/AAAAAAAABPI/D5zdu3q1yWQ/s1600/misc+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="198" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r1JPUEi7nc8/T7vxMYvdt6I/AAAAAAAABPI/D5zdu3q1yWQ/s400/misc+8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
These were made from matchsticks and coffee stirrers. They are 1" x 1" and 5mm high. I made 15 of them. Took quite a while because I split the coffee stirrers into about 3mm boards. The boards were then glued onto 1" lengths of matchsticks, 6 or 7 on top and 3 on the bottom. They were based on this picture from a commercial pallet website.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UI1MZgiFTlQ/T7vzLKGFr7I/AAAAAAAABPQ/WI5r-mRf2cU/s1600/PalletAvatar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UI1MZgiFTlQ/T7vzLKGFr7I/AAAAAAAABPQ/WI5r-mRf2cU/s320/PalletAvatar.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Once assembled I painted them with <a href="http://www.micromark.com/age-it-easy-brown-3-1and2-fl-oz,7774.html">MicroMark Age It Easy Brown</a> for raw wood. This stuff is very cool. It's alcohol based and won't warp the thin pieces of wood used in this scale. Once that was dry I sealed them with Testor's Dullcote.<br />
<br />
Next up are some very cool <a href="http://achesoncreations.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=23&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1">Acheson Creations Accessories</a>. I had seen these on another Zombie blogger's site and thought they were really cool. These have got to be one of the best kept secrets on the interweb, beautiful resin terrain for 50 cents to $1 each.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cYVRupSIT7o/T7wHMPIbxqI/AAAAAAAABPc/0QW7XrC044g/s1600/misc+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cYVRupSIT7o/T7wHMPIbxqI/AAAAAAAABPc/0QW7XrC044g/s400/misc+4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The pic above shows a 28mm Hasslefree mini with a "28mm scale cluster of oil drums" and "two tires and fuel drum".<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ufl07PZtzV8/T7wIb1eFTrI/AAAAAAAABPk/E08aHLUE6OI/s1600/misc+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ufl07PZtzV8/T7wIb1eFTrI/AAAAAAAABPk/E08aHLUE6OI/s400/misc+5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Pic above shows 28mm Tire Stacks. I really like these.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G4DFEYbMiDw/T7wJwQ4u_9I/AAAAAAAABPs/SKG8tMJWbYo/s1600/misc+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G4DFEYbMiDw/T7wJwQ4u_9I/AAAAAAAABPs/SKG8tMJWbYo/s320/misc+6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Pic above shows the "Cluster of 3 Wheelie Bins" and "Debris Pile #1".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tXxyZHi7pTo/T7wKa2L7rLI/AAAAAAAABP0/GxqFRkIgMDw/s1600/misc+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tXxyZHi7pTo/T7wKa2L7rLI/AAAAAAAABP0/GxqFRkIgMDw/s320/misc+7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's more Wheelie Bins and "28mm scale pile of oil drums".</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
These are very nice quick pieces of terrain that will add realism and nice cover to your tabletop. You can't beat the price and if you follow the link to Acheson Creations Accessories, above, you will see that they have some 15mm, 20mm and 28mm terrain pieces as well. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
That's all for now. Thanks for looking.</div>

<br />
Hi, friends. It's been a while since I've been able to blog. Work and other 4-letter words getting in the way. I've been able to fill a little of the tiny amount of free time I've had doing the scenarios in Max Brallier's "Can You Survive The Zombie Apocalypse?" That's really been nice and a great way to relax after a long day at work. What's really cool about this book is that it was a present from our beloved Vampifan of <a href="http://vampifansworldoftheundead.blogspot.com/">"Vampifan's World of the Undead".</a> It's been said that the Zombie blogging community is the nicest group in the blogosphere, and Vampifan really epitomizes the kindness and friendliness of the Zombie blogger. Thanks very much, Bryan, for your generous gift and for all the inspiration and entertainment your blog gives the rest of us.<br />

I finished my EM4 Suits and the Tinpot Dictator to go with the Presidential limo I posted a while ago. I also found and finished a Black Orc Games Zombie I had misplaced.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m_knW-BoG1Q/T5SQM9xLpTI/AAAAAAAABOk/-9VWjRVth-s/s1600/bunny+z+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m_knW-BoG1Q/T5SQM9xLpTI/AAAAAAAABOk/-9VWjRVth-s/s320/bunny+z+2.jpg" width="229" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's the Zombie. A nice little Bunny gone horribly bad.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TkwUCG62VpE/T5SQeQVChLI/AAAAAAAABOs/VswtXBnZ1Dg/s1600/Pres+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="193" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TkwUCG62VpE/T5SQeQVChLI/AAAAAAAABOs/VswtXBnZ1Dg/s400/Pres+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's the EM4 Tinpot Dictator. This was a fun little model to paint.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
El Prez with his bodyguard of jack-booted Government Thugs. I may also use these suits for some MIB type gaming.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That's all for today. Thanks for looking.</div>Luckyjoehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09572819691139763475noreply@blogger.com21
