Hi, friends. Here's a few more minis. These are West Wind GRK10 SWAT Team. I got them from warweb.com here in the States. Vampifan already featured them on his blog a while back. These are nice minis at a decent price.
Very dynamic poses. I went for a simple paint job of black bdu's with gray highlighting. Didn't do well on the lettering at all, so I placed an order with Company B for some SWAT decals. I'll probably just paint over the lettering black and apply the decals.
Thanks for looking.
Great job on these dramatically posed cops. What about a guard dog or two!
ReplyDeleteI agree the poses are good and your paint job better. Very neat.
ReplyDeleteCool models, I like the NVGs!
ReplyDeleteGood job on the figures Joe.
ReplyDeleteDon't know how I managed to miss that post.
ReplyDeleteI've mentioned on Vampifan's blog I am not really fan of those figures, but that paintjob is nice. What colours did you use?
And decals sounds great, but before you use them, P.D. is a nice way to avoid painting "police" on each of them!
@Jay: That's a great idea. Anyone have any recommendations for a nice police dog? I'd prefer a German Shepherd (love those dogs) but a Doberman would be good, too.
ReplyDelete@Irqan: Thanks. These are minis and really paint up easy. Even I can manage them. :)
@Spacejacker: Thanks. But, sorry I gotta ask. What's an "NVG"?
@Zabadak: Thanks very much. I'm working on some West Wind Night Rangers Special Forces, now. Was going to paint them black, too, but decided to go with a subdued camo, to help differentiate them from the SWAT guys.
Nicely done Joe. Freehand is hard to do. Redid the shield on my riot cop a few times
ReplyDelete@Mathyoo: Thanks. I used craft paints, mainly. Black spray primer, heavy Black wash, charcoal gray drybrush, then slate gray lighter drybrush, and a little Citadel boltgun drybrush and Mithril for the weapons.
ReplyDelete@Brummie: Thanks. It's a little too hard for me. I'll take the lazy way out with the decals when they arrive. :)
very nice Joe you done these minis justice, they certainly look the part.
ReplyDeleteThey look great so they do. Regarding freehand stuff, I find for straight lines etc, it can make it easier to get a soft pencil and very lightly pencil in what you want first. It's the same skill set as painting, but people tend to be better at it. Or if it's black lettering I cheat and use a permanent 0.05 engineers pen.
ReplyDeleteNice SWAT. I really like the aggressive poses. The lettering isn't too bad, but I wouldn't blame you for using decals, they can look so much better than even top notch freehand.
