Another Sarissa Precision Building done.

Hi, everyone. I finished another Sarissa Precision building. This one I will use as a Private Detective Office with a Bailbondsman upstairs. This building was primed with Krylon Gray spray primer, a gray craft paint for the stones, and Citadel Foundation Mordian Blue for the windows and trim. The floor was a printout from IIRC FatDragon Games Rio Draco set, with the interior walls being print-outs from the WWG Mayhem PD set. The rooftop also is WWG from the Armory set, I think.

The signs I made in Open Office after a google search for images. Minis pictured are SgtMaj Minis GetSome 28mm SciFi Crew. The Zombie is a HorrorClix Policeman Officer.

Here's a shot of the rooftop with the WWG print-out.
Side view. I decided to put the billboards on this side wall. Anybody recognize the Billy Mack reference? And the detective agency motto is a misquote of the Pinkertons.
Rear of building. Signage from Twilight Streets freebie Stinky Pete's Pizza shop. Mal is facing off against a gorram Horrorclix construction worker Zombie, while Zoe and Wash hold lookout on the rooftop.

The other side of the building. Signage is from MicroTactix Twilight Streets, The door is from WWG, I think it's part of a sheet of doors from the Bits of Mayhem Downtown set. I used another WWG door on the interior door as well. All of the side doors in the Sarissa Precision bundle I got had the same door, so I wanted something a little different this time. That is Wash on the street by the door, while Jayne, Zoe and Mal cover him from above.

Here's a close-up of the door. I applied some silver "puff paint" to the knob and hinges. Puff paint is used on fabric to give a raised 3D effect. I think the hinges came out well. I may have to add more for the knob, though.
This is the puff paint I used. I've been meaning to try it out.
Pic above shows the upstairs interior. I forgot to put the stairs in.
Here's the ground floor interior. The side door and wall texture are from WWG.
Pic above is a view of the interior through the front windows and door. The doorknobs were done with the 3D paint, too.
Well, that's all for now. Thanks for looking. C&Cs welcome.

Update to the Cityboard

Hi, folks. Yesterday I got a lot done on the Cityboard. If you haven't seen it before, it's 28mm scale and intended primarily for use with TwoHour Wargames "All Things Zombie" rules, though it could be used for a number of settings and genres.

I've been messing around making some billboards to go with my Proxie Models Billboards I bought a while ago. The genius thing about the Proxie Models Billboard is they're designed to take a standard business card, and there are all kinds of programs designed to make business cards and even pre-perforated cardstock sheets on which to print business cards. Naturally, being a dumbass, I'm using Open Office Presentation to make the signs and printing out the signs on regular cardstock. :)

Pic above shows my Bank. I dressed it up with some signage and I'm using Billboards to help identify the building.
Pic above shows the side of the bank with signs from WorldWorks Games and MicroTactix sets.
The rear of the bank. Close-up. I love the wording on the WWG Bank signs.

The other side of the bank. More WWG and Microtactix signs. I think the addition of the signs adds greatly to the building at a very small time/effort investment.
Pic above shows another Sarissa Precision 28mm CityBlock building. This one I made as a 3 story. This angle shows off the rooftop. The rooftop texture is a printout from one of the WWG Mayhem sets. This building was primed with Krylon white spray primer, and then painted with acrylic craft paints. Folk Art Artist Pigment "Warm White" on top of the primer. The Artist Pigment line has a higher concentration of pigment than the regular line. The blue trim was done with Accent "Soldier Blue". Soldier Blue gives a very good coverage with one coat.
Pic above shows the front of the building. The mini is from Hasslefree Miniatures, a great, family company that does beautiful sculpts and has wonderful quality minis. The sign is from one of the MicroTactix Twilight Streets sets.
Pic above is a side view. The top sign is one I made in Open Office after googling for some free clipart caduceus. I figure the whole building is full of Medical Offices. The "East End" sign is from MicroTactix. The two minis are provided for scale and are a Studio Miniatures Zombie (left) and Hasslefree Mini (right).

Pic above shows the rear of the building. The signage comes from MicroTactix, and the No Firearms sign is part of a great freebie set from Hirst Arts. Dumpster is from WWG Marina set. Minis are a Victory Force Minis Zombie and a Hasslefree mini. Car is a diecast hummer from a drug store.
Above is side view with signage from Hirst Arts and Microtactix.
Here's that same side with a little vignette. I loves me some vignettes. :)
Here's a shot of the interior of the ground floor. The "tile" is a piece of scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby. One 29 cent piece gave me more than enough for all 3 floors. I'm using another WWG stairway, glued to a piece of mattboard. There's one for each floor.
Another interior shot above.
3rd floor interior. Hasslefree mini fits perfectly on the WWG stair.
Here's my obligatory shot through the windows/doors. This is one of my favorite things about the Sarissa Precision buildings. The beautiful windows and doors and playable interiors.

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for looking. I hope this wasn't too long a post.

Zombie And Survivor Painted

Hi, everyone. I finished another   Survivor and Zombie.
Pic above is Hasslefree Mini's "Dynamic Ray".

Pic below is a Studio Miniatures Zombie from set #2. Another characterful mini. Some poor old granny.
You almost hate to crush her head.
These were fun minis to paint. Thanks for looking.

Another Zombie and Survivor painted

Hello, again. I managed to paint a couple more minis today.  One Studio Miniature Zombie and one Hasslefree Minis Adventurer.
Zombie coming up, ladies first, you know.

This is one of the Studio Miniatures Zombies from set #2. I really like this mini. Great little details yet simple to paint. She reminds me of the poor lady they brought in wounded in 2004 Dawn of the Dead.

Next up is the Survivor. This is Hasslefree Minis' "Gruff". I've decided to adopt him as my avatar mini. He even looks a little like me, except no glasses. But I do have a beard, beer, and a katana.
Pic below is Gruff's back. Hasslefree sculpted him with a cool raised emblem on the back of the shirt. I added the USN on his ballcap. I have a similar hat, a little more likeness for my avatar.
To make him more like me I gave him black socks to go with his shorts and sneakers. My kids hate it when I do that. I don't think they've figured out yet that I do just to mess with them. :)

Thanks for looking.

Another Cityboard Update

Hi, folks. Had a pretty productive day today. Finished another Sarissa Precision building, dressed up the Bank with signs, made some Proxie Models Billboards, and found my Last Night on Earth game with the minis I painted a while back. Even managed to do a couple of jobs around the house for the sweet wife. Also got treated to some nice eye candy from Mother Nature.

Looking out the window while working on some stuff. Got treated to a few cool critters in a tree in the backyard.

I decided to make one of the SP buildings into a little one story beauty salon. My son Stephen suggested the name.
View from the front with a couple of the Last Night on Earth games minis.
Side view with an LNOE Sheriff and the Victory Force Minis Zombie Dino Mascot.
Rear of the building with a Hasslefree Minis Ken and one of the LNOE zombies.
Other side of the building with a few more LNOE zeds.
Pic above shows the rooftop. I used texture from WorldWorks Games Armory. The mini is the LNOE Nurse.
Interior shot. I used wallpaper made from scrapbook paper and the rug on the floor is from WWG Police Dept. Another LNOE survivor.
Perspective shot through the window with another couple of LNOE minis.
Another view of the side featuring another LNOE survivor. I did a wash on the exterior and used weathering powder on the lower portion of the wall.
Here's the LNOE Lady survivors together. My fav is the Nurse.
Here's the Gents from the LNOE game. I think I like the Sheriff best.
A group shot of the LNOE Zombies. I think I need to hit the LNOE minis with some Dullcote.

Well, that's it for now. Thanks for looking.

A couple more minis painted: 1 zombie & 1 Survivor

Hi, everyone. Last two days have been kind of crazy. I've been off work but we're still in the middle of moving and unpacking. In true gamer fashion, my gameroom was top priority but now I'm stuck with the honey-do list.  Today I got the washer and dryer going. I won't bore you with the details. The hot water heater wasn't working. Haven't had a shower in 2 days. (Did I mention I was off work?) Electrician said it was a blown fuse. I bought a new fuse and installed it. An hour later wife notices an unpleasant burny smell. I couldn't smell jack, still got the cold from hell. Eventually opened up the closet for the water heater and the quick disconnect is quietly smoldering away in the corner. "General Quarters, General Quarters. All Hands Man Your Battlestations. Reason for General Quarters, fire in the water heater closet. This is not a drill. Provide from Repair One." (I'm Repair One- that's Navy Damage Control lingo BTW). I ran and hit the breaker, hit the fire with the little household extinguisher, and set up a fan to desmoke the space. Yee-MF'in Haw. Called the electrician. "Hep Me, Hep Me." Dude was there in like 15 minutes from a pretty good ways away. Everything is fixed, now, and we even have hot water. My sweet daughter Kelli who lives here in town brought us a wonderful Chicken Tetrazini casserole for dinner (kitchen still being renovated). And my wife even surprised me with a nice 6-pack of beer.  So now my day has turned very nice. I managed to snap a few shots of a Zombie and Survivor I got painted over the last few days.

Pic above shows our cat Tiffany taking over a corner of the game table. I like having her up here with me.

Pics above are my 1st Survivor. Hasslefree's Ken, which I think strongly resembles Ving Rames from Romero's 2004 "Dawn of the Dead". A great mini. I was very pleased with my paintjob until I see it on the monitor. I gotta fix the pants and maybe darken his skintone a little. Still, not bad for a no-talent hack like me. :)

Pics above are the Victory Force Miniatures Mascot Zombie Dino. A very characterful mini with great detail. There's a nice little backstory with my purchase of this mini. Victory Force had their Christmas Code 25% off sale with free shipping during the Christmas holidays, but it did not extend to their random 10 packs of Zombies (they're already really discounted). I asked them about it and they told me if I bought one of the regularly priced Zombies I could get 25% off that Zombie, plus free shipping for anything else I ordered with it. I thought that was pretty cool so I ordered this Dino Mascot and 3 ten-packs of the Random Zombies. Great customer service and an excellent product.

I painted the Mascot Dino's eyes Vampifan style. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and I love the way Vampifan does the eyes for his zombies. I thought about about doing him Barnie-style, but Vampifan already did that, so I went for a sort of Fred Flintstone's pet Dino theme.

That's all for now. I'm for a hot shower. Thanks for looking.
